44 - Midwinter's Eve On Midwinter's Eve, Colm and Deru decorate their tree while Emma tries to write a wassail song. Deru loves Winter Festival but explains it hasn't been as magical lately. Herd Elemyn and the festival fairies used to decorate Trails End with sparkly ornaments each Midwinter's Eve. But they haven't done that since the great Valkyrie leader Sigga left.		45 - Mischievous Fairies While Emma sleeps, two fairies, hugkiss and Bumbit, try to steal a lock of her hair! Colm and Deru rush into her bedroom -- too late. Snip! Emma is angry, but the fairies try to explain: Ivenna has magically locked the ice castle where the Winter Festival ornaments are kept. With Emma's hair and other items, they can unlock the enchanted castle.

46 - Fields of Snow Across snowy fields, Emma, Colm, and Deru ride with their new fairy friends, Hugkiss and Bumbit, to find the ice castle. The castle appears each Midwinter's Eve on the shores of Lake Riddlemere. Inside are the Winter Festival ornaments the fairies use to decorate Trails End. The friends must break the enchantment that keeps the castle locked.		47 - Fairy Feast Fairies from all over Trails End gather for the Midwinter's Eve feast. What a beautiful sight! Snow fairies, air fairies, and fire fairies ride miniature magical friends or fly to the ice castle on that magical night. Its towers glisten with icicles, while below lies a delicious feast of every sweet imaginable. Can they unlock the castle this year?

48 - Herd Elemyn From across the snow-covered fields come beautiful horses of fire, light, ice, and stone. Emma, Colm, and Deru watch as they gallop toward them to join the fairies' Midwinter's Eve feast. "Herd Elemyn," says Deru. "It's one of the most magical herds in North of North."		49 - Lord of Misrule At the end of the Midwinter's Eve fairy feast, everyone gets a mug of hot cider and a slice of apple cake. Colm finds a cococnut in his cake -- a fairy tradition that makes him the Lord of Misrule, king of the Winter Festival. "Anything he says goes," explains Deru. Emma doesn't like the sound of that one bit! Colm enjoys being king a little too much.

50 - Fairy Chocolates The fairies Bumbit and Hugkiss have tried to unlock the ice castle for years. Ivenna sealed it with an enchantment, locking the Winter Festival decorations inside. When the fairies offer her fairy chocolates, she can't resist. Ivenna loves chocolate! Whoever eats fairy chocolates can't tell a lie, so Ivenna is forced to tell how to break the spell.		51 - Wassailing The fairies have collected every ingredient they need to break the enchantment and unlock the ice castle -- except one. They need a new Winter Festival wassail song, one that has never been heard before. Emma has written a wassail, but she feels too shy to sing it. Deru and Colm come to her rescue and sing along with her. The castle door opens!

52 - Ice Ornaments At the sound of Emma's wassail song, the ice-castle door springs open. Fairies and horses rush inside and run through the icy corridors to the throne room. There, the unicorn Tannenbaum greets them merrily. The fairies bring special snowballs to Tannenbaum, and his breath magically turns them into beautiful Winter Festival ice ornaments.		53 - Canter Hollow Rooftops Emma peeks out her window on Midwinter's Eve before going to bed. The Winter Festival fairies have begun decorating Trails End with ice ornaments. The whole town sparkles with their lights. It's so beautiful! In the morning there will be presents on the tree. She snuggles into bed and falls asleep smilihng, dreaming magical dreams.

54 - Festive Canter Hollow When night is the longest Our friendship is strongest.
